I guess I'll start off by saying hi! My name is Nate, I'm 21, and I currently reside near Columbus, Ohio. I've been lurking here the past few months, moreso after acquiring my '91 Z32. I had been looking to purchase one for about the previous 2 years. As soon as it was delivered, I fell in love. I don't think I've ever felt so connected to a car before. There were a few flaws, but that was okay. I had cracked taillights and a broken fog light, which I quickly remedied thanks to the helpful FAQs on this site and my training as an automotive technician for my first 3 years of college. At this time, it still needed new splash guards (they're called something else, but I've forgotten), an OPSU (I know these tend to go bad, and mine is no different), new shifter bushings (slushy gearbox), and a timing belt (JDM motor with almost 60k). All of those are also relatively easy fixes that I had in my budget. However, I recently took my baby to a dealership after experiencing problems with my steering. It basically felt like I had no power steering at all. So they call me back, and tell me exactly what I DIDN'T want to hear... My steering rack and pump need to be replaced. There's a problem with my steering linkage and my steering column. And I need a new rear main seal. They quoted me near $8000. Oh, and they told me my OEM turbos are failing, which I don't understand because they only have 25k miles on them and, to my knowledge, there's no reason they would have failed THIS early...especially since Garrett turbos have a reputation for longetivity. If that's the case, they'd want another $6500 for that, even though I'd just save up and get ahold of JWT Sport 500s. For some reason, I really don't believe that part of their "check". So, they're telling me it would take $14k - $15k to fix my car. The decision was made soon thereafter by me and the folks that is simply wasn't worth it to keep the car. However, I had a change of heart today because I know how long it took me to find this Z and I can't stand the thought of getting rid of it. I'm bound and determined to find the parts I need to fix it through the classifieds because I'm not giving up on my dream of owning one of these. So that's my story, and sorry it's so long. Hopefully I'll fit in around here.
